Frequently Asked Questions

  1. Why should I use SkillSoniq?

SkillSoniq is the simplest, most efficient way for hiring managers to find skilled on-site talent. We are the perfect fit for you if you are:

    1. Looking to test talent before giving out a full-time offer
    2. Looking to build a team of on-site contract workers
    3. Looking to hire interns

We give you access to a highly skilled and screened pool of candidates you just can’t find anywhere else. Each of these individuals is actively considering new projects, has been screened through proprietary algorithms, and stacked up against one another to quantify their true “Skill rank.” Only the top 10% of candidates are approved on our platform. This way, you get to pick the top 10% of candidates.

While most recruiters waste time in approaching passive candidates who are just not interested, our algorithms automatically detect when a worker is rolling off a project and when you are starting a project, so they can join you as soon as your project starts. Our workers are guaranteed to respond to your interview and project offer requests instantly.

Our workers are paid hourly, which means you can test drive them for a few months before rolling out a full-time offer. If you don’t like them, simply end the project. This way, you get to save time and cost in onboarding and training someone you don’t like.

  2. What type of hourly workers do you have on the platform?

SkillSoniq typically places 3 types of workers with clients:

    1. Corp to Corp: These workers are on the payroll of a staffing company or run their own consulting firm. We place these workers with end clients. The end client still pays us and we pass on the fees to the consultant’s company
    2. W2: These workers are on the payroll of SkillSoniq, and are placed with end clients. End clients pay SkillSoniq, and after keeping a placement fee, SkillSoniq passes on the remaining pay to the consultant
    3. 1099 Freelancer: These workers are freelancers who work with the end client for an hourly fee. The end client pays SkillSoniq based on hours worked by the freelancer. SkillSoniq keeps a placement fee and passes on the rest to the 1099 freelancer
  3. How much do you charge?

SkillSoniq is free for users to post unlimited projects and screen unlimited candidates. You pay us a small placement fee only once you hire a candidate. We do not charge you a fee upfront, which helps you ease your cash flows.

For employers, we charge the below placement fee depending on the type of worker hired:

    1. 20% of hourly pay for Corp-to-Corp candidates
    2. 20% of hourly pay for W2 candidates
    3. 10% of hourly pay for 1099 freelance workers

Our pricing is much lower than what staffing companies would charge, and we also beat freelance websites that charge north of 10% for giving you workers in remote parts of the world. Traditional headhunters charge 15% commissions upfront, whereas with SkillSoniq, you pay us in installments.

  4. How do I pay the worker?

You only need to pay SkillSoniq every week, 2 weeks, or month, based on the amount of hours worked by the worker. Once we receive payment from you, we will retain the placement fee and pass on the rest to the worker

  5. How can my company join SkillSoniq?

You can create an employer profile for free and once approved, you can start posting unlimited projects and contact unlimited candidates for free.

  6. What sort of candidates are on your marketplace?

Companies come to us to find candidates for hard-to-hire tech roles, operations roles and data analysis roles.

We place entry level job seekers all the way up to C-level execs, although our sweet spot is in the one to eight years of experience range. We’ll be expanding into a variety of industries and job categories in the future, and hope to ultimately be the place all skilled professionals go to find a project they love.

  7. Any advice for recruiting successfully?

Unlike on most recruitment platforms, our candidates are always on the go and are actively looking for a project. This means that we have a very high interview and job offer acceptance rate on our platform, and you do not waste time reviewing a candidate who is not interested in switching jobs. Almost every candidate you contact on SkillSoniq will respond to your offer, either accepting your interview request or stating a reason why they are not interested. Once you’re engaged with a candidate, our biggest piece of advice is to move quickly. Either present a paper offer, or cancel the interview process within 5-10 business days. The longer you wait, the more companies and offers you’re going to be competing against. You should always move as quickly as the candidate is comfortable with.

  8. Where do you get all your candidates from?

We value highly skilled candidates or candidates who are willing to learn to get a job of their dreams. We attract candidates through a combination of word-of-mouth, paid and viral marketing. We also have strategic partnerships with top business and engineering schools such as Dartmouth University and Cornell University, and have partnered with top staffing agencies to source candidates.

Please note that at this point, we specialize in working with candidates who have skills for and interest in the following 7 roles:

    1. Business Analyst
    2. Product Manager
    3. Project Manager
    4. Data Analyst
    5. UI/UX Designer
    6. Developer
    7. Quality Assurance

  1. How does SkillSoniq work?

SkillSoniq is a recruitment platform that helps hourly workers move from project A to project B, gaining skills in the process, and making more money. In an industry that is fraught with recruitment agencies and lack of transparency, SkillSoniq makes the process of securing projects for workers very easy, by connecting workers directly with end clients.

Candidates simply login and complete a 3-step application online. They are then screened and approved by our career advisors. Once approved, you simply sit back and relax as we send you multiple project offers. Upon accepting an offer, you can use the app to “check-in” to your employer’s office on Day 1, share feedback, fill out timesheets and get paid.

Once you are close to rolling off a project, SkillSoniq automatically finds you the next project to help you seamlessly move from Project A to Project B.

  2. Why should I consider using SkillSoniq?

We are changing the way hourly workers move from Project A to Project B. If you are an hourly worker looking for your next project, you are likely highly dependent on inefficient staffing agencies to find you a project, and it will take you roughly 2 months to get a project. To make things worse, you will be spammed by calls and emails from recruiters who will ask you to plant “fake skills” in your resume.

At SkillSoniq, we have automated the process of seamlessly moving workers from Project A to Project B, so you stay 100% utilized and make the most money. This helps you save time, stay busy, and make more money.

All you need to do is complete a one-time 3 step application on

  3. What kind of jobs are you hiring for?

We pride ourselves in offering the most popular roles required to be filled by companies today. Companies use our platform to hire hourly workers over 6-8 months on average. Clients pay highly for the work done, and in many cases, offer our worker a full-time role. Companies come to us to find candidates for seven job roles:

    1. Product Manager
    2. Project Manager
    3. Business Analyst
    4. Developer
    5. UI/UX Designer
    6. Data Analyst
    7. Quality Assurance

We place entry level job seekers all the way up to C-level execs, although our sweet spot is in the three to eight years of experience range. We also place interns with companies over the summer and winter months. We’ll be expanding into a variety of industries and job categories in the future, and hope to ultimately be the place all hourly workers go to find a job they love.

  4. What markets do you serve?

SkillSoniq places candidates across the United States, with companies spread across the US, mostly in tech hubs like New York, Chicago and San Francisco.

  5. If I join SkillSoniq’s marketplace, what kind of time commitment am I looking at?

The longest part of our 3 step job application is the last step where you are required to answer a few questions on past projects and give us more insight into your experience. We ask you to fill out more than you would on a resume or a LinkedIn profile.

This intense level of data is required for our technology to assess your profile and find you the best projects. Employers also love to see more data on candidates’ relevant experiences. It takes anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours to complete an application on SkillSoniq, after which you can sit back and relax while we find you projects.
