  2. How are you able to source candidates at such low pay rates?

    We are able to provide you quality candidates in your office starting at $15/Hr, which is lower than what you would pay for freelance workers who you have never seen! This is because of the following reasons:

    1. Candidates have recently switched industries and domains, hence are looking to start at low pay rates
    2. Candidates are looking to get paid a low rate to be able to get a foot in the door, and hopefully be offered a full-time gig by you!
    3. Candidates are looking for supplemental part-time gigs to make more money and gain relevant experience
  3. What type of hourly workers do you have on the platform?

    All are workers are 1099 independent contractors. These workers work with the end client for an hourly fee. The end client pays SkillSoniq based on hours worked by the freelancer. SkillSoniq keeps a placement fee and passes on the rest to the contractor.

  4. How does your matching algorithm work?

    We collect 15+ of the most important attributes from both the candidate and employer, in the form of structured data. Our data is collected through a simple, easy to fill form. Because we collect mostly structured data, our Machine Learning powered models are able to assign and refine weights for each of the 15+ feature vectors, and assess the best matches between projects and candidates.

    With every decision made by both the employer and the candidate, the algorithm gets smarter, so you can get the best project matches.

  5. What is your price?

    SkillSoniq is free for users to post unlimited projects and screen unlimited candidates. You pay us a small placement fee only once you hire a candidate. We do not charge you a fee upfront, which helps you ease your cash flows.

    We charge employers 10% of the Bill Rate they agree to pay for a project. This is so that we can maintain our operations and keep working to get better candidate matches. Our pricing is much lower than what staffing companies charge, and we also beat freelance websites that charge north of 10% to give you workers in remote parts of the world. Most of our competitors charge commissions upfront, whereas with SkillSoniq, you pay us in installments, every time you pay a worker.

  6. How do I pay the worker?

    You will need to pay SkillSoniq every week by Tuesday at 11:59pm based on the amount of hours worked by the worker from Monday through Sunday for the previous week. We provide a consolidated invoice for all the workers you have hired on SkillSoniq, so that you have to pay just one entity, as opposed to paying several workers individually. Once we receive payment from you, we will retain the placement fee and pass on the rest to the worker.

  8. What sort of candidates are on your marketplace?

    We offer candidates in 3 broad buckets required by any company:

    1. Tech roles: These comprise of Developers, UI/UX Designers and Product Managers who will help you build your products
    2. Ops roles: These comprise of Operations specialists who will help you with documentation, process optimization and reporting
    3. Marketing roles: These comprise of digital marketers and growth hackers who will help you expand your business
  9. Any advice for recruiting successfully?

    Unlike on most recruitment platforms, our candidates are always on the go and are actively looking for a project. This means that we have a very high interview and job offer acceptance rate on our platform, and you do not waste time reviewing a candidate who is not interested in switching jobs.

    Almost every candidate you contact on SkillSoniq will respond to your offer, either accepting your interview request or stating a reason for declining your interview. Once you’re engaged with a candidate, our biggest piece of advice is to move quickly. Either present a project offer, or cancel the interview process within 5-10 business days. The longer you wait, the more companies and offers you’re going to be competing against. You should always move as quickly as the candidate is comfortable with.

  10. Where do you get all your candidates from?

    We value highly skilled candidates or candidates who are willing to learn to get a job of their dreams. We attract candidates through a combination of word-of-mouth, paid and viral marketing. We also have strategic partnerships with top business, engineering and coding schools, such as Dartmouth University, Cornell University, App Academy and Launch Academy.

  11. Can I contact candidates outside of the marketplace?

    Yes, after a candidate has accepted your interview offer, we connect you with the candidate over email. Thereafter, you can communicate with them over email. However, all offers have to be made on our platform, so that candidates check-in to your office, complete timesheets and are paid by us on time.

  12. Do you specialize in a certain industry?

    No, our candidates come from all industry verticals, and hiring managers across all industries hire candidates from our portal.

  13. How long does it take to hire a candidate on SkillSoniq?

    As long as your schedule lines up with the candidates you are interviewing, on average, it takes 20 business days for an employer to get started with a candidate from the time a project is posted on our platform.

    SkillSoniq is a recruitment platform that helps hourly workers move from project A to project B, gaining skills in the process, and making more money. In an industry that is fraught with recruitment agencies and lack of transparency, SkillSoniq makes the process of securing projects for workers very easy, by connecting workers directly with end clients.

    Candidates simply login and complete a 3-step application online. They are then screened and approved by our career advisors. Once approved, you simply sit back and relax as we send you multiple project offers. Upon accepting an offer, you can use the app to “check-in” to your employer’s office on Day 1, share feedback, fill out timesheets and get paid.

    Once you are close to rolling off a project, SkillSoniq automatically finds you the next project to help you seamlessly move from Project A to Project B.

  3. What kind of jobs are you hiring for?

    We offer roles in 3 broad buckets of Tech, Operations and Marketing. We place entry level job seekers all the way up to C-level execs, although our sweet spot is in the three to eight years of experience range. We also place interns with companies over the summer and winter months. We’ll be expanding into a variety of industries and job categories in the future, and hope to ultimately be the place all hourly workers go to find a job they love.

  4. When do I get paid?

    Candidates’ pay period begins on Monday at 12:01am and ends at midnight on Sunday. Candidates generally get paid every Friday for the previous week’s pay period, but it could be earlier depending on how soon SkillSoniq is paid by the client.

  5. What markets do you serve?

    SkillSoniq places candidates across the United States, with companies spread across the US, mostly in tech hubs like New York, Chicago and San Francisco.

  6. If I join SkillSoniq’s marketplace, what kind of time commitment am I looking at?

    The longest part of our 3 step job application is the last step where you are required to answer a few questions on past projects and give us more insight into your experience. We ask you to fill out more than you would on a resume or a LinkedIn profile.

    This intense level of data is required for our technology to assess your profile and find you the best projects. Employers also love to see more data on candidates’ relevant experiences. It takes anywhere from 1 hour to 3 hours to complete an application on SkillSoniq, after which you can sit back and relax while we find you projects.

  7. I am looking to transition into a development or technical role from a non-technical specialty, can you help me?

    We place candidates who are looking to transition to a tech role. Our employers look for 15+ attributes in a candidate including overall experience, industry / domain skills, location, education, tech skills and so on. Our algorithms are smart enough to recognize whether you would be a good fit for a role, based on a holistic analyses of your profile.

  8. How long will it take to receive interviews?

    Once your profile is approved and live on our platform, you can expect to receive interview offers within five business days. In some cases, companies may take longer to get back to you for an interview depending on their unique circumstances. We pride ourselves in providing employers only skilled candidates, whose skills and identity have been validated by us. This expedites the recruitment process for employers increasing your chances of hearing back on next steps faster.

  9. When will employers be able to see my profile?

    All employers who post a project are presented the best candidate matches by us. Your profile will only be seen by employers who get you as a match for their project(s). They will not be able to see your contact information though until you have accepted their interview. At that stage, we will connect you with the hiring manager to take the process forward.

Because we collect mostly structured data, our algorithms are able to assign weights to each of the 15+ attributes, and assess the best matches between projects and candidates.

    With every interview rejection by both the employer and the candidate, the algorithm gets smarter, so you can get the best project matches.

  11. What type of companies can I expect to hear from for interview requests?

    In the event there is a job opportunity that fits your skillset, you’ll be hearing from a variety of companies that are either venture backed and/or publicly traded.

  12. If I accept an interview request, will I still be visible to other employers in the marketplace?

    Yes, your profile is visible for the entirety of your time in the marketplace regardless of how many interview requests you accept. Accepting an interview request is non-binding, and only indicates your mutual interest in the company. Ideally, you will receive multiple interview requests allowing you to begin the interview process with several companies to find the best fit for you.

  13. If I decline an interview request but change my mind, how do I re-engage with the company?

    It never hurts to accept interview requests unless you are 100% sure you have no interest. You can always change your mind after a first conversation with the employer. If it is simply a question of compensation or role, you can reply to the request with your questions before agreeing to schedule the first interview. If you declined an offer and realize it was a mistake, we recommend that you reach out to us at so we can update your status accordingly.

  14. What happens during an interview?

    Each company is slightly different in how they interview, and interviews vary by technical and non-technical roles. However, all of them do some sort of skills vetting and in-person meeting. If you are already in our “top 10%” bucket, companies focus more on non-tangible aspects of your profile. Otherwise, companies may screen you through a mix of technical and non-technical questions.

  15. How long does it take to actually get a project?

    As long as your schedule lines up with the company you’re interviewing with, on average it takes 20 business days for a candidate to get placed on a project from the time their profile is live on our platform.

  16. Can I get a full-time offer?

    Yes, companies often extend full time offers to candidates on our platform. This is usually after you have worked with a company for 1 month and have performed well on the project. You can still use the SkillSoniq platform to find a project if you are not happy with the full-time role.
